When the word Busy has a WHOLE new meaning

I am not by nature a relaxed type of person. In fact i’ve been named “fiesty” by many and i guess have accepted it as a compliment. Sometimes though i have a week or so that sets me back, where i stop being super-women and just return to normal pace.  The past week has been pretty crazy with the addition of the new pups, but the dogs have all adjusted to their new brother and sister and the family has blended perfectly.

I have a laundry list of things i want to write about, i want to film, i want to show but i can only do so much so quick! With that being said look for a few new posts on the pups and how life is going.

Flashback Friday

This weeks flashback post photos are of Otto, a 1 year old german shepherd that Elite Instinct Canine trained (from 8 weeks to 7 months) and placed into a Search and Rescue home.

Otto is now starting his certification process with Amigo Search Dogs and by 2013 will be a certified search dog!

The weekend report

Typical weekend for the pack consists of some fun and play after some work. Sunday was no different and the girls all got what they needed! Raina worked some HR, making fast work of a problem that was set up 48 hours prior. The dog amazes me every time i see her work. I got lucky, really lucky that not only did i get an amazing genetic package with her (thanks to my team member Rita who bred Raina and her sister from a previous litter Abby) but i also have had years of dog related experiences in multiple facets to be able to raise her to be such an amazing working dog. You really cannot have a good canine search team without both the genetically appropriate dog and the knowledgeable trainer who knows how to work their dog to its fullest potential. Raina’s fullest potential was obvious when she was a certified airscent and HR dog at 12 months old, she has been ROCK SOLID ever since.

But i have digressed obviously, can’t help it 🙂

Emeline also ran a nice short, hot trail through a parking lot and around the school building with contamination everywhere. She did great, especially getting a direction of travel when casting her on the blacktop.

After we finished up the work we piled all 5 dogs in the truck and headed out to our swimming spots, first stopping off at the Delaware river section where its deep enough for the girls to really swim.

One going out, one coming in

Next we moved on to a more shallow inlet section where max and frank really got to enjoy it, as neither swims in deep water.

We finished up the day with obedience. The key to a well behaved dog is regular fun obedience sessions which we do daily.

Nikon D80 learning trials

Well i can’t say im bad at taking pictures, i mean im no pro but i get some decent shots here and there with my cameras. The one thing that frustrates me more then anything though is taking 100 pictures and getting none that turn out!!! I feel like that happens with my D 80 especially the more i try to make setting changes to get better pictures. Im in the process of learning but i’m a perfectionist and i haven’t mastered this quick enough for my taste!!

So if anyone has some advice i would appreciate it! A few questions and picture examples below

Moving- not blurry but with the sun out white washed.

Just not as clear as i know it should be, i believe on macro setting zoomed pretty far in but i don’t know what i am doing wrong!!!

I feel like i can and should be able to get much better pictures, since i started playing around with modes like aperture priority and such i swear i’ve gotten worse pictures!! Grrrrr so frustrating. The main thing i shoot are dogs, usually moving, typically outside and with teenagers with them. I invite advice!!!!! EliteInstinctCanine@gmail.com
