Summer is gone, we have cold nights and cool afternoons. Pretty soon the snow will fall and the atmosphere will change. Below are the last few pics from September of some of the pack. Enjoy!

Annecy- The mali who is growing up!
At just a little over 4 months annecy is developing nicely. Currently in training for airscent SAR, narcotics detection and service work with a recently blooming conformation career I couldn’t ask for a more well rounded malinois. This girl really impresses me with her can do attitude and hunt drive. She is definitely not the typical over drive, defensive, unstable malinois with no off switch we have seen a lot of lately. This girl has a bright future ahead of her, and no I don’t believe EIK9T is starting a Mali breeding program!
Fit to work- workshop for humans and canines
The Family Foundation School and the Dog Corps. hosted a seminar June 29th and 30thwith Eagle Valley Search dogs thanks to a grant from the American Kennel Club CAR foundation written by Jennifer Culver. The seminar brought up Dr. Cindy Otto DVM, PhD. from the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and Dr. Ann Caulfield VMD, CCRP, CVA a rehabilitation specialist.
The two day seminar was a combination of classroom training on body and muscle conditioning and nutrition of our canine partners, massage, warm up and cool down exercises, and much more. We were then able to take what we learned to the gym and practice with our pups! The team was able to show us numerous exercises we can work on with our dogs (working and non-working alike) to help with proprioception, strength, and core balance.
We had a total of 13 handlers, 25 dogs, and 5 students participate.
The canine copilot pack was there in force, including all the working dogs and even little Kaze.
A cold flashback
In light of the recent weather (which has stunk!) i figured it was ironic i found an old memory card full of pictures from this January and the winter. Enjoy this cold flashback and i hope we do not have another one for MONTHS!!!
- Soren all focus
- Working, finding his source below the snow
- Raina playing after her find

- Raina happy to have her ball
- And back goes Raina

A new year and a new page
2012 was a rough year, one of many ups and downs and I want to thank those who are my real friends, those who stood by me through it all and even if we didn’t see each other or talk much were still right there when i need you. I also had some amazing things happen in 2012 some things that have changed my life for the better, and that is Jenn looking at the glass half full for the first time in years.
With that being said, its a busy year and the list i have to accomplish is long. Bear with me as i get through the next 12-18 months. My goals are simple, to finish things i started, to live for myself and to make myself happy, to remember that I don’t have to worry about each day i only have to live it, and to appreciate what i have been given in life.
In the little free time i do have i will be taking on some new clients this year, but will selectively choose the more aggressive cases that i cannot pass on to other local trainers. The webpage was indeed outdated and i have created a new one which i’m in the process of finishing. Please take a moment to check it out and follow my blog posts on there. Delaware County New York has no idea what has hit them, and for right now this is where the Canine Copilot pack and I are staying.

Never fear a dull weekend is not near!
The summer always seems to bring about a busy time, between dog training, kid training, searches (which we have had keep us busy this last week or so) and the ever necessary paperwork that surrounds it all (which i am currently drowning in) a relaxing weekend is just not in the cards.
This past weekend was no different. Saturday the plans were to load up the dogs and finish out a search that we had attended last week in Rockaway NJ. It was called off after the subject was located on friday. Raina’s alerts had proven to be correct in our area that we searched thursday, he was found outside our search area but within half a mile attributing to her long distant scent alerts during a lot of her work.
Then the plans changed back to attending the schools annual house picnic at the local park. It would have allowed all the dogs to spend time with their favorite students and meet their parents too! But alas that was not in the cards either and our final destination put us south of Albany NY searching for a missing man. The girls worked their areas and we were home by 11:30pm.
DAY ONE COMPLETE!!
It was destined to be a busy but non emergency day sunday, and the focus was getting the puppies out into new situations to continue desensitization and socialization. That involved swimming in a few locations, some work on the agility equipment and some basic obedience.
The pups got some play time with each other (very limited since they have arrived with us, you never want to raise to puppies out of the same litter togther or else you will have “dogy” issues with them being more reliant and focused on each other then you the handler) and the big dogs controlled what they needed to or participated as they saw fit!

A nice soft correction from an adult member of the pack, assisting in teaching the pup acceptable body language and when you have crossed the line.
All in all, a weekend that couldn’t be complained about. Busy weekends are not always bad, just pass by to quick! Hello work week!
